Our Projects

1. Debut CD.
In 2005 Damien Thornber had an idea. He decided to record a few songs he had written and give them to
family and friends for presents instead of toys and rubbish that would just be thrown out.
But after taking a trip to the Philippines that Christmas his life would change forever.
But after taking a trip to the Philippines that Christmas his life would change forever.
The poverty he saw and the children living on the streets moved him in a different direction forever.
He came home and with the help of his band they built a studio. Took a VOW of poverty on their album
and signed all the copy rights to VOW, a charity that funds education for children in the third world.
This album has a special twist you can pay what you like, it is by donation only. You can buy one now

the famous Richard flax the producer and writer off the first surf movie ever mad in Bali in the 1970s Wave of Change.
After the Bali bombing Richard and some friends set up YKIP to fund schooling for victims of the Bali Bomb.
The charity thru which VOW has now sponsored 29 children into school. MUM, Richards own brainchild,
builds schools and has now built 33 in Bali alone. The cost of one of these schools is $15,000.
The target of our labour on the compilation CD will be to fund one of these schools.
It is with Richard that we have discussed the possibility of integrating the Bio-Latrine concept in Bali (see Bio-Latrine Project below)

Our vision for the North West Tour is that this will be the inaugural trial run for a yearly Aboriginal Community
event that would help to build a solid relationship with our brothers and sisters in the remote areas of Australia.
This tour is visiting about 5 communities but there are hundreds in the Kimberley alone. We would like to expand the
concept to incorporate health professionals as well as the sports and music role models and enlarge the tour time to span
over months instead of weeks for next year.
In this way, we will create a mobile caravan of health, sport and music to inspire the Indigenous youth and brighten their horizon with a yearly event worth anticipating. This might cultivate a

ground in which we could build a relationship to be nurtured with time, and in which we might witness young Indigenous Australians inspired into cultivating their talents before our eyes.

The tour could include competitions. In each community/town we visit, the residents could be encouraged to
participate in a Didgeridoo making, Aboriginal art and music contests. The winner from each of the categories
could then represent their community/town in the finals held at the last venue. The grand winner could receive a
prize like an art scholarship or an exhibition in Perth. The winner of the music/band competition could win studio
time to record their first album, donated by ourselves.

Steering committees function could include arranging concerts in these locations to coincide with our tour.
These venues would be good opportunities to perform to the local population and broader community to bring
attention to the tour and offer a opportunity for local acts to participate in a whole day concert held on local council
grounds or open parks.
Broome Picture Company has offered to film the whole tour. This will form part of our media program and
documentary to bring awareness to the conditions on remote communities and show some positive footage of their
culture and diversity. With a strong focus on reconciliation though creating and inspiring the children to develop their
talents and developing better relations for generations to come.

4. Bio-Latrines
Bio Latrines are an environmentally friendly solution to many of the issues caused by overpopulation and endemic poverty.
Lack of ablutions causes polluted water tables and diseases that cause death. The bio-latrine takes a simple principle of science, and utilizes it in a very low maintenance operation that can
be constructed from local material has no moving parts or machinery and needs no fuel other than human waste.
It is the very simple replication of what has been used in China and India for centrys but for the first time, on human waste.
It can be adapted for any culture regardless of wet flushing or dry and its by-products have several uses. As the waste decomposes it creates methane gas, this gas can be leached off simply by its own
pressure and reticulated to the surrounding community up to a 200 meter radius. This is a fuel soures that leaves little
residue upon ignition and can be used for heating, cooking or used to run generators that function on gas. Areas
of extreme poverty contribute heavily to green house emissions because of the use of fossil fuels like wood and coal
for cooking and heating, not to mention the rapid destruction of forestry through harvesting for this limited fuel source.
This alternative reverses this situation by making a free gas available. In essence a problem is converted into a solution
to other problems. But this is not the end. The secondary by-product is a liquid fertilizer that can be sold for use on nor-comestible crops such as roses ect.
This then forms an income for the fund of the latrine. Other examples have been used where residents pay 1 cent for entry
this is also added towards the running cost to buy toilet paper and so forth.
We like the idea of the Bio-latrine as a concept for schooling facilities. The ablutions could infact be the income source or micro business to fund the
curriculum and teachers wages of a school, in fact the latrines can be a perfect building for classes as you can see in the
photos, they have large cool rooms idea for classrooms. In Africa these rooms are rented out to Doctors that run small
clinics for the people.
